The Green Garden Schools Coronavirus Action Plan
How can I receive updates about the COVID-19?
Please continue to monitor guidelines posted on the Centers for Disease Control websites. There you will find the most updated information and guidance related to the CoronavirusDisease 2019 (COVID-19).
What communication can I expect from The Green Garden Schools?
By now you received an email from The Green Garden Schools providing you with a COVID-19 update as it relates to our schools. The schools will continue to follow the CDC guidelines and any updates will be sent to you via email.
Email is the School's official mechanism of communication. Make sure you monitor your emails, particularly those from the The Green Garden Schools, to keep informed.
How can you help to keep yourself and the gardener community safe?
In an effort to limit the gardeners community to any risk for any illness, we encourage students/parents to practice the following precautionary measures:
-
Wash hands often with soap and water, especially after coughing or sneezing.
-
Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers when washing your hands is not an option.
-
Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and discard the tissue immediately after use.
-
Avoid touching your face, specifically your eyes, nose, and mouth.
-
By getting enough rest, eating healthy, and exercising, you can maintain a healthy and strong immune system.
-
Stay home if you are sick and avoid close contact with sick people.
-
Let us know if you think you may have been exposed to someone experiencing the symptoms of COVID-19.
Please don't hesitate to reach out to Student Affairs and/or your program if you have any additional questions.
IMPORTANT COVID-19 COMMUNICATION - March 2020
Dear Gardeners,
In light of the World Health Organization declaring the COVID-19 (coronavirus) outbreak a pandemic and following the presidential directive on the suspension of learning in all academic institutions, I feel compelled to personally write this message and emphasize three central responsibilities we have as an educational institution.
First, we have an obligation to promote responsible prevention practices. We have at our disposal common-sense prevention measures that are highly effective, such as handwashing, social distancing, limiting travel to areas with high-infection rates and staying home when you feel ill. These interventions are not groundbreaking; they are, however, essential and impactful.
Second, we have a responsibility to advocate for truth. As educated individuals, it is our responsibility not only to protect ourselves, but also each other, and that means advocating for simple, yet vitally important, prevention practices. But, more than that, we are in a position to educate the public and to dispel some of the myths about the ailment.
Third, we as The Green Garden Schools will continue to provide high quality education and are preparing to move temporarily to a partial virtual education model/work from home model. Where possible, the schools will move to a digital learner management system and use google scholar to enable the continuity of learning. More information about this plan will follow; your safety will always be our primary concern.
We are closely monitoring guidance from the CDC and relevant departments of health. Being an educationist and scientist for nearly 40 years, I have practiced through epidemics and pandemics. And I assure you, this, too, shall pass. But until it does, let us not lose sight of our responsibility to care for one another, for our students and for the health of our fellow citizens.
